Pittsburgh Penguins Acquire Philip Tomasino from Nashville

The Pittsburgh Penguins bolstered its forward depth on November 26, 2024, acquiring 23-year-old center Philip Tomasino from the Nashville Predators for a fourth-round selection in the 2027 National Hockey League (NHL) Draft. Pittsburgh had just two wins in its last 10 games before making the trade. The team reassigned Sam Poulin to its American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to make roster space for Tomasino.
A first-round pick by the Predators in the 2019 NHL Draft, Tomasino had 71 points (23 goals, 48 assists) in 159 regular-season games in Nashville. He had his best season as a rookie in 2021-22, scoring 11 goals and adding 21 assists. Tomasino recorded 20 points (7 goals, 13 assists) in 41 games in 2023-24 and also helped Nashville’s AHL affiliate the Milwaukee Admirals reach the Western Conference Finals of the Calder Cup Playoffs.
